![]() ![]() I do have a set of rear shocks from a customers Mk6 (who did not want his stock parts back), I would be happy to give them to you if you still need a set of rear shocks. In most cases where the parts aren't returned to the customer they are sent for scrap. I cant find anyone hear who fielded any calls or emails in regards to this, my apologies if your message didn't get through. I again apologize if somehow one of the clamps was left out of the parts returned to you - we did not however "steal" it, or ever intend to - most often stock hardware is sent to the metal recyclers as we have no use for them - if you called back you may have been told that we didn't have one at the time.Īs for the suspension - if you weren't given your rear shocks back, I again apologize, I see no reason why they would not have been given to you. I do apologize that it was an issue we did our best to resolve it.Īs for the labor - the downpipe and catback that were chosen did not mate up correctly and our tech had to spend extra time to make the two work together correctly. ![]() You know I spent alot of time with you, trying to resolve the original issue with the APR downpipe - they raised the price without telling us, and we were stuck in a corner - these issues with APR have since been fixed, and nothing like that has happened again. I'm sorry to hear you aren't happy with your experiences at our shop - but let me address some of the issues you have brought up: ![]() I ended up having to shell out $36 at the dealer to get another clamp. When I contacted them to ask if they had it, they claimed that they had returned all of my stock parts to me. Later, when I went back to my stock catback, I discovered that BFI had kept (stolen) my stock sleeve clamp. I also highly recommend Apex tuning in Raleigh. They're solid, and they won't charge you a labor fee for flashing, unlike BFI who charge $40 for the 90 seconds it takes to flash your car. If you need work done or an APR flash in the area, contact 3werks. Long story short, don't deal with these guys. I expect that shit from the grease monkeys at Walmart's tire and lube center, not an enthusiast shop. The torque spec is 75ftlb, and they've probably got the thing torqued well over 300ftlb. I don't understand how these guys can be stupid enough to use an impact wrench on a stretch bolt in an engine mount, and then not even bother to check the torque. ![]() I then grabbed an impact wrench that I have that's rated up 250 lbft, and nothing. I first hit the bolt with a 1/2 drive torque wrench, and the bolt was so tight that it actually sheared off my 1/2 to 3/8 adapter. I went to install a VF pendulum mount that I had picked up, and found that they had over torqued the stretch bolt when they installed their torque arm insert. I sent them an email and left them a voicemail, but of course I never heard back. They put all of my stock parts in a box that I didn't open until a few weeks later, and when I did I noticed that my rear shocks were missing. I foolishly went back to them about a year ago to have coilovers installed, only because they were the only shop that wasn't booked up the weekend I wanted them installed. Later, when I went back to my stock catback, I discovered that BFI had neglected to return my stock sleeve clamp. I managed to swap my own downpipe in about an hour, with just jack stands. I've since been doing my own installs and don't understand how it can take anyone that long. They ended up charging me 2.5 hours to install a downpipe and catback. I eventually contacted APR and they sorted it out, although BFI did end up ripping me off on the install, tacking on an extra hour of labor claiming it took them that long to figure out how to mate the APR downpipe to the Autotech catback (even though both reduce down to 2.5"). When I told them to scrap the whole deal, they refused to refund my money for the Autotech catback, citing a "restocking fee". Rather than work with APR, they basically told me I was SOL and had to pay the difference. Turns out APR raised the price of the downpipe after I had placed the order but before it was installed, by about $200. It all started about 2 years ago, when I ordered an APR downpipe and Autotech catback. I'm pissed off enough that I'm going to air out the laundry in the hopes that no one else has to deal with their shady business practices and inept service work. So I've had a string of negative experiences with these guys, who have a shop in Raleigh, but today my frustration with them has reached new heights. ![]()
